Occupational Therapy
Singapore 2004
A picture of my NYP Occupational Therapy classmate, Noel. This photo would always remind me to try to look on the bright side of things. Every year as part of a joint participation with the Society for the Physically Disabled (SPD), we were to organise an event for their clients, and my group was to perform songs for the participants. But as fate would have it, the event was ill-prepared for the first half of performance, where all of us had to balance playing the guitars while standing without a strap. Sure I was upset that it did not went well, but the smile on Noel’s face reminded me that things could have been worse, and that life, is always more wonderful when we look on the bright side =)
Yes, I am an Occupational Therapist, and I’m proud of it!

Don’t you often wonder where would you be in the future? When we were young, adults always asked us, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And there and then, we would have various answers, as to what we thought we would like to be in time to come.
But I guess many would not think that they would end up poor, alone, and destitute. Neither would any one imagine themselves to be working so hard at old age, going around collecting cardboard and scrap materials just for that little bit of extra cash to survive through the day.
Have we progressed to a stage where we care not for the less fortunate? Or is it that we have moved too fast in our lives to notice those that are lagging behind? It is of course absurb to help every less fortunate one that you come across. But if chance ever permits, do reach out your helping hand…
